Loud, Proud, And Funny--A Solid And Professional Line-Up Keeps The Laughs Rolling
In my life, I've seen more Pride related comedy shows than I'd care to admit to. They tend to be hit or miss affairs with certain comics shining with originality while others play to expected genre humor. In the past, the degree of hilarity rose exponentially in direct proportion to the amount of alcohol I had consumed. For this LOL Comedy Showcase (this is about the sixth theme show in this particular series that I've caught), I was noticeably sober! But I'm pleased to admit that this is a more polished and professional set of comedians than usual--and each held their own. Not everything slayed, but this was a fitfully funny hour of comedy that would stand up to a repeated viewing. The only drawback is the slightly dated humor. Filmed at the El Portal Theater in North Hollywood, this show was shot in December of 2009--so there is plenty of talk about some of the bigger moments of that time period. Not sure why it took a year and a half to make its DVD debut.
