Edwin San Juan's Pacific Rim Comedy A.K.A Slant Ed Comedy II

A Pleasant, If Unremarkable, Evening Of Comedy Might Play Things a Bit Too Safe
Comedy being such a subjective thing, it's hard to really quantify what is funny. It is just so inherently different for everyone. I have caught several of these LOL Comedy showcases, with decidedly mixed results, and Edwin San Juan and his crew played a little safe for my taste. Don't get me wrong--everyone here is pleasant and likable, but the humor tends to tread familiar and expected territory. Having reviewed Pauly Shore, Jon Lovitz, Chris Spencer and Caroline Rhea showcases thus far, this one ranks with the Rhea special for me--nice if unremarkable. It lacks the audience participation that distinguishes Shore's piece as well as the wild unpredictability and edginess of Lovitz's comedians.

Edwin San Juan ROCKS the stage with a great lineup of Asian comedians!
I found this DVD to be hilarious! All too often I come across Latin or Black comedy specials, so it's refreshing that Asians get to poke some fun back. I could totally relate to the jokes. I find it interesting that they changed the name to Pacific Rim Comedy instead of SlantEd. Must be too much for some people to handle. This DVD is a nice introduction to six very funny comedians. It definitely made me want to see more. Since viewing this DVD I've seen all of the comics at various comedy clubs and they're all great but Edwin San Juan put's on a PHENOMENAL show!
