After the phenomenal success of Joan Collin's first mini-series "Sins" in 1986 CBS was anxious to produce another mini-series starring the "Dynasty" diva. For Joan's next project Joan decided to do another made-for-TV film with the same kind of opulence and glamour that "Sins" had. In "Monte Carlo" Joan plays a half-Russian spy who falls in love, wears breathtaking cloths, while living in the beautiful South of France. George Hamilton was Joan's leading man, but where "Sins" was a huge ratings success "Monte Carlo" didn't receive the same kind of Nielsens its predecessor had. Joan felt this was due to the fact that "Monte Carlo" aired only nine months after "Sins" had aired, and she felt the public was overdosing on her appearances on network television.
Probably more alarming was what was unfolding in Collin's private life as her fourth marriage was crumbling to Peter Holm who was also one of the executive producers along with Joan. Collins reported the cast and crew were...

Purchased Monte Carlo, as I remembered seeing the original on TV several years back. Still a fun mini series with a lot of glamour. Entertaining stuff!
